PUBLIC INTEREST RESEARCH UNIT

This charity is no longer on the register, removed on 1 April 2021. A removal is usually a charity that wound up, merged, or fell below the income threshold, and is not in itself a finding against anyone — but an appeal still quoting this number today is quoting a charity the Commission no longer registers.

What it does

The Public Interest Research Unit promotes democratic practice, civil rights, and social inclusion, through conducting research, formulating policies, and arguing for change; advising on organisational development; and providing a free advocacy service (restricted at present to the area around our registered address) to individuals experiencing discrimination.

In the charity's own words, as filed with the Commission.

About this record

From the Charity Commission's register of England and Wales, republished nightly under the Open Government Licence. The Commission does not regulate Scotland or Northern Ireland, which keep their own registers. Figures are as the charity last filed them, not as audited by us — browse the whole register, including the charities removed from it.
