THE CANTERBURY ADVOCACY PROJECT
This charity is no longer on the register, removed on 13 January 2011. A removal is usually a charity that wound up, merged, or fell below the income threshold, and is not in itself a finding against anyone — but an appeal still quoting this number today is quoting a charity the Commission no longer registers.

What it does
The project recruited volunteer advocates to support people with learning disabilities in getting their voices heard. In September 2008, Kent County Council transferred our contract to a county wide provider. Because of loss of funds and to avoid duplication of services, the trustees agreed to close down the charity by March 2010. The remaining funds will go to East Kent Mencap.
In the charity's own words, as filed with the Commission.
About this record
From the Charity Commission's register of England and Wales, republished nightly under the Open Government Licence. The Commission does not regulate Scotland or Northern Ireland, which keep their own registers. Figures are as the charity last filed them, not as audited by us — browse the whole register, including the charities removed from it.
