THE HASTINGS BENEVOLENT FUND

This charity is no longer on the register, removed on 21 January 2010. A removal is usually a charity that wound up, merged, or fell below the income threshold, and is not in itself a finding against anyone — but an appeal still quoting this number today is quoting a charity the Commission no longer registers.

What it does

Provides one-off grants to doctors and their dependants mainly assisting applicants who are unable to work. The Fund does not help with legal fees, private medical fees, career development projects or debts. It has a particular interest in helping refugee doctors with the cost of qualification in the UK. It has a special fund for assisting doctors and their dependents who are terminally ill.

In the charity's own words, as filed with the Commission.

About this record

From the Charity Commission's register of England and Wales, republished nightly under the Open Government Licence. The Commission does not regulate Scotland or Northern Ireland, which keep their own registers. Figures are as the charity last filed them, not as audited by us — browse the whole register, including the charities removed from it.
