THE ASSOCIATION WAS FOUNDED IN 1976 BY A TRUST DEED TO PROMOTE THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF MERSEA ISLAND AND SURROUNDING DISTRICTS BY THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION AND THE PROVISION OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR RECREATION AND LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION.
