HALOW (BIRMINGHAM)
This charity is no longer on the register, removed on 19 March 2015. A removal is usually a charity that wound up, merged, or fell below the income threshold, and is not in itself a finding against anyone — but an appeal still quoting this number today is quoting a charity the Commission no longer registers.

What it does
Charity set up in 1985 to provide information, advice and support to prisoners' families and friends. Since 1996/7 HALOW (Birmingham) has worked in partnership with HM Prison Service (and, since 2011, a private sector provider) to co-ordinate Visitors' Centres at prison establishments (currently five) across the West Midlands.
In the charity's own words, as filed with the Commission.
About this record
From the Charity Commission's register of England and Wales, republished nightly under the Open Government Licence. The Commission does not regulate Scotland or Northern Ireland, which keep their own registers. Figures are as the charity last filed them, not as audited by us — browse the whole register, including the charities removed from it.
