THE BASIC SKILLS AGENCY

This charity is no longer on the register, removed on 3 July 2009. A removal is usually a charity that wound up, merged, or fell below the income threshold, and is not in itself a finding against anyone — but an appeal still quoting this number today is quoting a charity the Commission no longer registers.

What it does

The BSA is the lead development agency for basic skills in England & Wales, with a 'cradle to grave' remit. Its endeavours to improve standards of literacy, numeracy and communication skills focusing on those who continue to struggle with their basic skills. Its aim is to have a significant influence through partnership working on the development of national, regional and local strategies.

About this record

From the Charity Commission's register of England and Wales, republished nightly under the Open Government Licence. The Commission does not regulate Scotland or Northern Ireland, which keep their own registers. Figures are as the charity last filed them, not as audited by us — browse the whole register, including the charities removed from it.
