THE BRITISH FALSE MEMORY SOCIETY
This charity is no longer on the register, removed on 22 March 2024. A removal is usually a charity that wound up, merged, or fell below the income threshold, and is not in itself a finding against anyone — but an appeal still quoting this number today is quoting a charity the Commission no longer registers.

What it does
The BFMS continues its core work of supporting the membership (people whose lives have been affected by false memory) whilst developing its educational role and information for the public, professionals and media where appropriate. Support includes the availability of the telephone helpline, an AGM, newsletters and regional meetings.
In the charity's own words, as filed with the Commission.
About this record
From the Charity Commission's register of England and Wales, republished nightly under the Open Government Licence. The Commission does not regulate Scotland or Northern Ireland, which keep their own registers. Figures are as the charity last filed them, not as audited by us — browse the whole register, including the charities removed from it.
