THE HOJA PROJECT, UK

This charity is no longer on the register, removed on 9 January 2014. A removal is usually a charity that wound up, merged, or fell below the income threshold, and is not in itself a finding against anyone — but an appeal still quoting this number today is quoting a charity the Commission no longer registers.

What it does

Hoja works in Songea District, one of the poorest areas of rural Tanzana, to enable people to free themselves from the life of deprivation and extreme poverty that they are born into. Hoja runs several community-led programmes, including student sponsorship to enable young people to attend secondary school, income generating projects, performance groups teaching health issues etc.

In the charity's own words, as filed with the Commission.

About this record

From the Charity Commission's register of England and Wales, republished nightly under the Open Government Licence. The Commission does not regulate Scotland or Northern Ireland, which keep their own registers. Figures are as the charity last filed them, not as audited by us — browse the whole register, including the charities removed from it.
