WORLD BOOK NIGHT
This charity is no longer on the register, removed on 11 July 2019. A removal is usually a charity that wound up, merged, or fell below the income threshold, and is not in itself a finding against anyone — but an appeal still quoting this number today is quoting a charity the Commission no longer registers.

What it does
World Book Night is an annual celebration of books and reading celebrated on April 23 each year which sees 20,000 volunteers give hundreds of thousands of books to those who don't regularly read in the community to inspire a passion for reading and promote literacy. WBN also distributes books directly to institutions including prisons and coordinates events across the country to celebrate reading.
In the charity's own words, as filed with the Commission.
About this record
From the Charity Commission's register of England and Wales, republished nightly under the Open Government Licence. The Commission does not regulate Scotland or Northern Ireland, which keep their own registers. Figures are as the charity last filed them, not as audited by us — browse the whole register, including the charities removed from it.
