FIRST STEPS SPONSORSHIP
This charity is no longer on the register, removed on 19 November 2017. A removal is usually a charity that wound up, merged, or fell below the income threshold, and is not in itself a finding against anyone — but an appeal still quoting this number today is quoting a charity the Commission no longer registers.

What it does
This charity operates in Tamale, Ghana and provides funding for young females to attend primary and secondary schools. The sponsorship money comes from international sponsors and is collected annually by the trustees in the UK. An amount to cover the cost of uniforms, books, exam fees and extra lessons is sent to the Ghanaian manager every month. He distributes it directly to the schools involved.
In the charity's own words, as filed with the Commission.
About this record
From the Charity Commission's register of England and Wales, republished nightly under the Open Government Licence. The Commission does not regulate Scotland or Northern Ireland, which keep their own registers. Figures are as the charity last filed them, not as audited by us — browse the whole register, including the charities removed from it.
