SAINT LAZARE GREAT BRITAIN

This charity is no longer on the register, removed on 23 August 2023. A removal is usually a charity that wound up, merged, or fell below the income threshold, and is not in itself a finding against anyone — but an appeal still quoting this number today is quoting a charity the Commission no longer registers.

What it does

Saint Lazare Great Britain is the UK charitable identity of the Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, an ecumenical order of chivalry based in Jerusalem and active in many countries. For centuries, its members have collaborated as Christians to alleviate poverty and sickness, particularly leprosy. Its traditional emblem of the green cross is the origin of the international symbol for healthcare.

About this record

From the Charity Commission's register of England and Wales, republished nightly under the Open Government Licence. The Commission does not regulate Scotland or Northern Ireland, which keep their own registers. Figures are as the charity last filed them, not as audited by us — browse the whole register, including the charities removed from it.
