THE SWANN BENEFACTION

This charity is no longer on the register, removed on 10 February 2011. A removal is usually a charity that wound up, merged, or fell below the income threshold, and is not in itself a finding against anyone — but an appeal still quoting this number today is quoting a charity the Commission no longer registers.

What it does

This small charity was established and funded by legacies in the early 20th Century by brothers E J Swann and Rev Henry Swann for the benefit of poor pensioners resident in the Ecclesiastical Parishes of Abbots Leigh and Leigh Woods. Small gifts are now allocated and distributed in the Christmas season to such beneficiaries at the discretion of the trustees.

In the charity's own words, as filed with the Commission.

About this record

From the Charity Commission's register of England and Wales, republished nightly under the Open Government Licence. The Commission does not regulate Scotland or Northern Ireland, which keep their own registers. Figures are as the charity last filed them, not as audited by us — browse the whole register, including the charities removed from it.
